thank crunchie its…

There has been so much that has happened over the week that i didnt add to this that i prob will have to go into the dashboard side of this online and add specific times and dates, or i will just leave as is and just continue pottering on.

I’m havin an operation on my nose on Monday morning which sees me out of work until May 2nd so i wont be in work to update till then, i spose i will try to get connected somehow and update as i go. Im not really looking forward to going into hospital at all, they just freak me out. I’m having the inside of my nose reconstructed to fix the break at the top that is blocking off one of my nasal passages. My sinuses are effected but the top man reckons once this is repaired the sinus’s will sort themselves out.

I’m hopin it will improve my breathing ability too, for running and training…ya never know i could be a new man after this!

I’m also looking at setting up my own blog system, when i say my own, i obviously will be using WordPress and setting it up on my hosting and posting by email. It just means i have more control over the look and the things i can put up on it. The old blog system i had up just was to incorporate into my site which was a very basic server sided piece of software. WordPress has a lot of extras you can use with it and a bit more functionality, I’l try get that going over the few days im off.

Will try to hit this up before i leave but am busy enough….sure ya know yourself…

A+ Success

I know its been a while since i have updated this, mainly due to the crazy time off the job gives you around Easter and i have just finished my 1st year in the Diploma.

I took my last exam in this semester and it was the final A+ Software / O/S exam. To be brutally honest i was sitting in the house on Tuesday evening thinking i hadnt a snowballs chance in Tenerife of passing it, i had gone through the Test-King questions once and felt pretty miserable about the whole thing!

I went in yesterday morning and i think it was the part of me that had accepted the fact that i was probably going to fail that gave me the edge, now i won’t lie i did just scrape my way through it but a pass is a pass none the less!

It was a huge weight off my shoulders, i think the stress of the exam PLUS my trip to hospital this Sunday has me fairly wound up!

So thats it in a nut shell! I am a certified A+ technician!

bow …. exit stage left….

Famous Irish Sayings

I got these on the email today and they made me laugh…share the good humour i say!

I’m as sick as a small hospital.

I’m so hungry I’d eat a small child.

She had a face on her like a well slapped arse.

You’re as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit.

My mouth’s as dry as a nuns crack.

He has rubber-lined pockets so he can steal soup.

He thinks manual labour is a Spanish musician.

As funny as a burning orphanage.

He’s so camp, he sh1ts tent pegs.

I’m as sick as a plane to Lourdes.

I feel like a boiled sh1te (hungover).

(when leaving) I’m off like a debs dress.

She had a face on her that would drive rats from a barn.

As busy as the Dalkey dole office.

Sweatin’ like a paedophi1e in a Barney suit.

As tight as a nun’s knickers.

I’m so horny I’d get up on the crack of dawn.

I’d crawl a million miles across broken glass to kiss the
exhaust of the
van that took her dirty knickers to the laundry.

Up and down like a hoor’s knickers.

No show pony but would do for a ride around the house.

Did your mother find out who your father is yet?

What would ye expect from a pig but a grunt.

I left her with a face like a painters radio.

A mickey the size of a double-value can of Right Guard.

Jaysus, she could breastfeed a crèche.

As fit as a butcher’s dog.

She’s got more chins than a Chinese phone book.

Not even the tide would take her out.

Mother Teresa wouldn’t kiss her.

Daz wouldn’t shift her.

Des Kelly wouldn’t lay her.

A sniper wouldn’t take her out.

Jaysus, ya wouldn’t ride her into battle.

If I’d a bag of bruised willies I wouldn’t give her one.

She has a face on her like a bulldog that’s just licked piss
off a nettle.
She wouldn’t get a kick in a stampede.

She had a fanny like a badly packed kebab.

If I’d a garden full of mickeys I wouldn’t let her look over
the wall.

Give her a boot in the arse and a bucket of mickeys would
fall out of her.

Over There has left the building.

Last night was the last of the Over There series. For anyone living under a rock for the past few months it was a drama series set in Iraq, following a bunch of recruits around on their first tour of duty.

It also followed the soldiers families and lives back home, cheating wives / husbands , soldiers going AWOL, partners with drinking problems but primarily about the war.

I have to say some of the shows were slow but the action scenes and sequences were second to none. Aparantly it took a lot of flack in the US because it hit a bit too close to home for all the families who have members serving overseas. Also i believe, although the series was made assisted by the US Army in terms of tactics and provision of machines and basic training, the higher echelon of US brass were not pleased with the storylines twist of insubordination and harsh language between ranks. So a second series hasn’t been commisioned, it’s hard to tell where the second season would go really. Sometimes these types of series are better off ending when people think they’re good instead of bounding on and ending on a fizzle instead of a bang! I will be watching out for the re-runs with my finger hovered on the record button…

Lost?

Last night i did the run around when i got home, i still had a bit of energy so i decided to do a few things like taking all the glass to the bottle bank, tidy up around the kitchen, take last nights DVD back and i had to go down to Superquinns to get a couple pizzas for the dinner so i grabbed the shopping list that was there and decided to get those bits and pieces aswell.

Had a good sense of it all when i had everything done, came home to have dinner iron shirts for the rest of the week and basically take it easy, it does sound fun but this is as good as it gets! You have to have one or two quiet nights in!!

Good night on telly is a Monday, Lost is on, bit confusing but i have to say last nights episode was better than the last few that were on. Its one of those shows that moves like lightening or like a tortoise on valium! There’s no in-between!

Sleep wasn’t the best last night, i woke up at 4am and couldn’t get back asleep for 2 hours which was annoying. Work today was good, i feel like i’m making progress a bit. I’m getting to grips with the correspondance aspect of things anyways. Headed to the gym on my lunch today for an hour workout, feel very relaxed now i have to say, should have no problems sleeping tonight!

A history of violence

Got this dvd out last night, to be honest its not worthy of being called a film, it was more a case of someone threw together a series of ‘happenings’ and then put a sound track on it!

The plot, losely put, is about some guy who lives in Bumsville Arizona and is hiding from his past in Detroit where he was a killing machine of a mobster. His alter identity comes to light when he is shot to fame (no pun etc) when his diner is held up and he saves the day and becomes an all-american hero by shooting the two attackers.

A mob boss then visits him and his family bringing back his past, having seen him on the telly, he tries playing it off as mistaken identity but it transpires that the dude actually is ‘joey the whacko’ and has killed more people than i’ve had bowel movements…

The ending obviously looked good on paper and totally stunk on screen. A bucket load of gratuity killing and 53x couldn’t cover up this woaful plot and disaster that was ‘History of Violence’

Personally i will be telling everyone i can’t stand that it was a great movie!

What a weekend!

One of those weekends where you don’t plan on having a mental one but as it goes on it just gathers momentum. I have to say its first weekend i’ve had in a while that i didnt have to do something on.

Headed out on Friday to have a few jars with my mate who’s home from France, he came home to do his driving test but failed it. Had a few pints but slopped off early enough as i had a funeral the next day.

Saturday i had to pick up one or two of the lads and head into Artane to it, a guy we know’s brother died, no biggy but just to be present on the day was necessary. Early enough of a finish which was handy, didnt hang around at all.

After a power nap i headed out with my brother for a few pints with his mates, ended up having a crackin night out. The few lads i know came down and we had a great laugh, a fair few pints and a lot of attractive women floating around as eye candy and a kebab to top it all off!

Sunday was a no brainer, picked up the parents from the airport and then sat around for the day. Had a bit of grub and vegged out..all in all a good weekend, havent had one in a while now…even have the leopard skin cowboy hat to prove it!

late to bed – late to rise

My first day late on the job, was out training late last night so didnt hit the scratcher when i wouldve liked to. Also a mate of mine is back home for a couple days, mainly to take his driving test (which he has just informed me, he failed) so he was there last night which was a bit of craic seeing him, haven’t seen him in a couple of months, not a long time i know but i do miss him not being around the corner.

Woke up a bit late this morning but still well in time to make the 30+ min journey across town, couldn’t find my swipe card when i was leaving the house which annoyed me, i never take it out of the trousers i am wearing so i always know where it is, but of course the blasted thing has grown legs and disapeared!

So i turn up at the car park, actually not as late as i thought i would be and its begining to look alright, when i realise i need my swipe to get from the underground carpark to the lift, some times the builders have left it ajar but no my luck is out and the thing is locked shut. I contemplate getting back into the car and driving to the main carpark a bit away and walking around but that’s too much hassle. Thankfully someone coming out opens the door from the inside and i’m in like flynn.

Have to say the HO isn’t too bad, a large intake of water has the head reasonably fresh i have to say, its just the initial getting out of bed i’m finding a problem!

Fire Drill and a New Clean Desk!

I have to say i’m happy floating around the office doing my own bits and pieces. I’m learning about the filing and correspondence and all that goes with it. Im looking forward to going to my first major meeting now next week, plus throw in the added bonus that it’s going to be a long weekend due to the aul easter thing! It’ll ding dang doo for me thank you vvery much!

Throw in a payday and im a very happy camper! Went across to the shops on my lunch and bought a new shirt in top shop and slacks for work in Dunnes, the trousers were marked 15 bob and brought them up and bada bing…down to a tenner! A winner all round! Tomorrow im back in the gym for some training , im going for a 3 day a week training schedule, twice at the gym and then once in the pool / steam room, il increase it as it goes along but i might as well use the hour lunch for something constructive.

Friend of mine is back from France for a couple days but will hardly get the chance to see him, might head out for a pint tomorrow night…

Like a brick!

Third day on the job now and it seems like my head is about to explode, the girls in the job are being as good as they can with showing me the ropes but i really feel i need to get in and do things to remember them. The phones don’t ring at all compared to my old job, kind of reflects how much of my last job was dealing with irate people over the phone.

A lot of correspondence and filing and meetings, this is the bit now that im fairly out of touch with because in the last place we didn’t file anything and if we had to write to anyone it was generally by email or didnt warrant a higher grade to sign it etc. ANYWAY without boring you it just seems like im a long way from Kansas! The commute is working out grand but bear in mind its only day 3 in the big brother house, check back with me in a couple weeks!

Yesterday i went to the gym for the first time and got set up with my membership and everything, used the gym for an hour and it was fairly decent, loads of free machines and the changing rooms are second to none! Today i’m going to go for a swim at lunch and see how i get on…must inflate my armbands…
